Zelensky to be in Washington on Aug 31, Sept 1, then he heads to California – Markarova
KYIV. Aug 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During an official visit to the U.S., Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be in Washington on August 31 and September 1, after which he will head to California. The events in the U.S. capital have already been agreed by both parties, Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said.
"Together with the team of the Embassy and the President’s Office, we have reached the home stretch for the preparation of a very eventful visit of the President to the U.S. The President will be in Washington for two days – August 31 and September 1, then a trip to California is planned," Markarova wrote on her Facebook page on Monday night.
She said that the plan of events in Washington is planned and agreed by both sides.
"From what has already been planned in Washington – a meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. in the White House, the main components of this meeting have already been planned and agreed by both sides, meetings with the heads of ministries that are key for Ukrainian-American relations, as well as two important public presentations from the president and the first lady for representatives of the media, the public and information and analytical centers. In addition, the opening of the Ukrainian House is planned, as well as visits to places significant for relations between Ukraine and the U.S. in Washington," the Ambassador of Ukraine wrote.
"We hope to share more details very soon," Markarova said.
Earlier it was reported that the meeting of Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden was postponed from August 31 to September 1.
