Zelensky thanks kindergarten teachers in Brovary for saving children

KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the kindergarten teachers in Brovary, on whose territory a helicopter crashed.

"Now I want to separately thank the teachers of the kindergarten, on the territory of which this helicopter fell. Thank you for clear action, for getting the kids out," he said in a video statement on Wednesday.

"The rescue operation in Brovary, Kyiv region, continued for about nine hours. At the crash site of the State Emergency Service helicopter. Hundreds of people were involved in extinguishing the fire, searching for and rescuing the wounded, and in the primary investigative actions. Our rescuers, police officers, National Guard soldiers, doctors, psychologists, SBU employees. I thank everyone who was involved in this rescue operation today," he said.

"I also thank ordinary residents and residents of Brovary, who helped both children and the wounded. Some 25 people were injured, including 11 children. Some 14 people died, including one child. My condolences to everyone who lost their relatives and friends," Zelensky also said.

According to him, "the State Security Service of Ukraine launched criminal proceedings on the fact of this terrible event."

"Today, all the necessary decisions were made on the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system. We have lost people who were professionals, patriots and reliable leaders. Minister Denys Monastyrsky, Yevhen Enin, their colleagues who died in the crash are not people who can be easily replaced," Zelensky said.
