Zelensky states need for complete withdrawal of Russian troops from territory of ZNPP, restoration of Ukraine's control over station’s operation

KYIV. Aug 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the need for a complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Zaporizhia NPP.

“Only the complete withdrawal of Russians from the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP and the restoration of Ukraine’s full control over the situation around the plant will guarantee the restoration of nuclear safety for all of Europe,” he said in his traditional video address on Thursday evening.

“What is happening now around the Zaporizhia NPP is one of the biggest crimes of the terrorist state. Today, another shelling by Russia was recorded on the territory of the plant, in the immediate vicinity of the NPP facilities. Russia has once again gone through another floor in the world history of terrorism,” the president said.

According to him, “no one else has used a nuclear plant so obviously to threaten the whole world and to put forward some conditions. And absolutely everyone in the world should react immediately to expel the occupiers from the territory of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. This is a global interest, not just a Ukrainian need.”
