Zelensky says will seek Saakashvili's return from Georgia to Ukraine

TRUSKAVETS. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will seek the return of former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, who was arrested in Georgia on Friday, to Ukraine because Saakashvili has Ukrainian citizenship.

"As president of Ukraine, I am involved in returning Ukrainian citizens all the time, using various opportunities that I have, that the power has given me," Zelensky said at a press conference in Truskavets, Lviv region, on Sunday.

"Mr. Saakashvili is a Ukrainian citizen. Therefore, that applies to him, too. And we all will address this [matter] at the level of all institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our embassy working in Georgia, and the Georgian ambassador working in Ukraine, and at the level of talks between our cabinets of ministers, between our prime ministers," Zelensky said.
