Zelensky rules out possibility of election of president in Ukraine by MPs in 2024
KYIV. Nov 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has ruled out the possibility that in 2024 the President of Ukraine will be elected by the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.
"How can you delegate this right to MPs?.. How can this be done? This cannot be done. The MPs will not elect the president of Ukraine," he said at the marathon press "30 Questions for the President of Ukraine" on Friday in Kyiv.
The President also said that the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine is working on the issue of online elections.
"It cannot be without a decision of the Verkhovna Rada, but it does not mean that people will not be able to vote according to the standard… We are working on this with the best companies. I’ll tell you frankly: We are working on digital customs, electronic elections and the census with two companies, without unnecessary spoilers. These are Microsoft and Apple," he said.
