Zelensky on 30th anniversary of creation Ukrainian Armed Forces: 'On behalf of Ukrainian people, thank you for your selfless service, fortitude, heroism'
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated servicemen and employees on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Today, Ukraine is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the creation of the national Armed Forces. However, the real history of the development of our Ukrainian army reaches several centuries, and its heroic path is inseparably combined with all the historical stages of the formation and development of the Ukrainian state," the president emphasized in his congratulations published by the press the service of the head of state.
"Having absorbed the best national military traditions that were formed in heavy, bloody wars and armed conflicts of the past, the Ukrainian army during its recent history has gone a difficult path towards the formation of a capable and highly organized military structure, confident in its strength and capable of breaking any aggressive plans of the enemy," he added.
The President recalled that on the day of their professional holiday, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend the sovereignty and freedom of the state from Russian aggression.
"On behalf of the Ukrainian people, I express my gratitude to the personnel and veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their selfless service, fortitude and heroism shown in protecting the territorial integrity of the country. On this day, we bow before the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine. Their feat will live forever and serves as an example of honest and selfless service to the Motherland. I am convinced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to reliably defend the freedom and independence of our state," he concluded.
