Zelensky offers Biden new measures to bolster security in Black Sea region
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered U.S. President Joe Biden new measures to enhance security in the Black Sea region.
The United States "is interested in security in the Black Sea region," Zelensky said at a press briefing in Washington on Wednesday.
"And there are concrete things that we offered the president [Joe Biden]. I can’t tell you the details, as it’s related to our state’s defense," he said.
"Some of our proposals were new to the U.S.," he said.
"They are interested. We agreed that they will consider details of these proposals and will give an answer," the Ukrainian president said.
Besides, Zelensky noted that he looks forward to the U.S. defense secretary’s visit to Ukraine to discuss security in the Black Sea region.
"Along with the Defense Agreement, defense support is key to security in the Black Sea region. There are specific issues and specific proposals. We will discuss and fine-tune them with the U.S. because the U.S. defense secretary will certainly come to Ukraine," Zelensky said.
