Zelensky, Kuleba express condolences to Turkey over major earthquake: Ukraine ready to support in overcoming consequences
KYIV. Feb 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba expressed their condolences to Turkey due to the major earthquake in the southeast of the country.
"I express my sincere condolences to President Erdogan, the Turkish people and the families of those who died due to the earthquake in southeastern Turkey. I wish a quick recovery to all the victims. In this difficult time, we will be close to the Turkish people. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to overcome the consequences of the disaster," Zelensky said on Twitter.
Kuleba, in turn, also assured of the readiness of the Ukrainian side to provide the necessary support.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and damage caused by today’s tragic earthquake in Türkiye. Our heart goes out to the families of the victims and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Ukraine stands ready to provide any necessary support," the minister said on Twitter.
As reported, a powerful earthquake in Turkey and Syria and the subsequent aftershocks led to the collapse of numerous buildings, the tremors were felt by the inhabitants of Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.
According to the latest data, some 284 people died in Turkey, some 237 in Syria; thousands of people were affected.
