KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill On social and legal protection of persons in respect of whom the fact of imprisonment of personal liberty as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine, and members of their families has been established, which is designed to create legislative mechanisms for social and legal protection of persons deprived of their freedom as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as members of their families.
As reported on the website of the head of state on Monday, the bill provides for the creation of a Commission on the establishment of the fact of deprivation of a person of personal freedom as a result of aggression against Ukraine, and also defines his powers. In particular, the Commission is granted the right to submit inquiries in order to obtain, verify or clarify the information necessary to make an informed decision on the specified issue.
Zelensky also submitted two bills to parliament related to the above. One of them provides for the introduction of administrative responsibility for non-compliance with the requirements of the Commission, and the other defines the specifics of applying the provisions of the Tax Code to income received in accordance with the law on social and legal protection of political prisoners.
