Zelensky commemorates those killed at 9/11 memorial in New York
KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky honored the memory of those killed on September 11, 2001 at a memorial in New York.
"We all see Ukrainian names here, flags. Everyone who has visited the Memorial can see this," Zelensky said as he laid flowers at the memorial.
It is reported that one of the many rescue heroes during the attack on the WTC towers was Ukrainian Ivan Skala, who served as a police officer in the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Department, and on September 11, 2001, volunteered to help the victims of the terrorist attack.
"The largest terrorist attack in the history of the world killed 2,996 people 20 years ago. Some 12 of them were Ukrainians. Eternal memory to all the victims of 9/11," Zelensky wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
