Zelensky calls Ukrainian delegation's visit to U.S. substantive, well-prepared

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to the United States has been productive, according to a statement published on the presidential website on Wednesday.

"The first day of our team’s visit to the U.S. is over. I’d like to thank everyone both on the Ukrainian side and the American side. I think that a substantive visit has been prepared, but a challenging one from the point of view of the number of meetings. But what counts most is quality rather than quantity," Zelensky said in comments to the media in Washington.

The Ukrainian president described his meeting with the U.S. energy secretary on Tuesday, August 31, as substantive, adding that important documents were signed at it.

"We see that there will be comprehensive investment in Ukraine’s nuclear power sector. It is the first important step. We have been looking for investment. Now we have support," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also said that he saw support from the U.S. Department of Energy in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline issue and this project’s threats to the energy security of Ukraine and Europe.

Zelensky and his wife Olena arrived in Washington on August 31 at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden. The visit will continue for several days.
