Zelensky calls on students of College of Europe to defend European values

KYIV. Jan 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on students of the College of Europe in Bruges and Natolin to learn to be defenders of European values.

"Peace, security, freedom, democracy, protection of human rights and social justice are not just a legacy. They do not pass from generation to generation simply along with certain institutions. You have to be ready to fight for them," he said, speaking to students on Friday via video link.

"And you need to have the determination to fight, to have the appropriate leadership. Therefore, I urge you to learn here at the College of Europe not just how to be part of the European bureaucracy, but how to be defenders of European values, how to be leaders in the struggle for Europe!" he said.

According to him, "tyrannical tendencies always find a way." "Consequently, freedom always needs those who will guarantee its protection. I believe that you can become leaders who will guarantee the protection of freedom," the President stressed.
