Zelensky awards Vilnius with honorary distinction 'Rescue City'
KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – By decree, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Vilnius (the capital of the Republic of Lithuania) the honorary distinction "Rescue City."
Relevant decree No. 30/2023 was published on the website of the President’s Office on Tuesday.
"For the shown humanism, mercy and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, comprehensive assistance to the citizens of Ukraine who were forced to leave their homeland as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as significant support for Ukraine in protecting its independence and sovereignty, I decide to assign the honorary distinction ‘Rescue City’ to the city of Vilnius (Republic of Lithuania)," according to the text of the decree.
