Zelensky announces transfer of new weapons to Ukrainian army on Day of Armed Forces

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, taking part in the celebrations in Kharkiv on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced the transfer of new weapons to the Ukrainian army.

"Today, here [in Kharkiv] and in other regions of Ukraine, about 100 pieces of weapons and military equipment will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In Kharkiv, combat brigades will receive new modernized T64BM Bulat tanks. Dozens of BTR-4 armored personnel carriers and dozens of Kozak 2M.1 domestic armored vehicles," Zelensky said during the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are being held in Kharkiv.

The president also said that to date, an agreement has been signed with the UK for over UAH 60 billion for the construction of Ukrainian missile boats and naval bases, the supply of anti-mine ships to Ukraine and the equipping of the Ukrainian Navy with anti-missile ship systems.

In addition, Ukraine and Turkey signed an agreement on the construction of an Ada-class corvette.

According to Zelensky, today in Odesa, the Naval Forces of Ukraine will be transferred two patrol boats of Island type under the Ukrainian names Fastiv and Sumy.

He said that for the first time in history Ukraine has signed a contract for the production and supply of three new military transport aircraft AN-178, while the Leleka and Bayraktar unmanned aerial systems have already been adopted.

In Ukraine starts the construction of its own plant for the production of modern military drones.

"Today, at the Ozerny airfield in Zhytomyr region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive MI-8 helicopter and IL-39, SU-27 and AN-26 aircraft," Zelensky said.

In addition, according to him, Ukraine, together with Canada, has launched a project to create a cosmodrome for the Ukrainian-made Cyclone launch vehicle. The head of state said the construction of a launch pad has already begun on the Atlantic coast of Canada.
