Zelenska at UNGA 77th session: Ukraine's experience shows it is better to fight, win together

KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s experience shows that it is better to fight and win together, Olena Zelenska, wife of the President of Ukraine, has said at the UN General Assembly summit in New York.

"The summit remains a platform for discussing urgent challenges that are not diminishing in the world. Our Ukrainian experience shows that it is better to fight and win together," Zelenska said.

She noted that she "invited colleagues who are not yet with us to join. And for all participants – a new initiative: to create a permanent platform for our community that will function throughout the year, between annual events."

At the same time, according to Zelenska, representatives of new countries are joining the summit of first ladies and gentlemen. In particular, these are Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Suriname, the European Council, the Kingdom of Tonga, Luxembourg, and Malta.

"We have gathered in New York on the occasion of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly," she said.

The First Lady of Ukraine noted that she welcomed the spouses of presidents and prime ministers of nine countries of the world at the Ukrainian Institute of America. According to her, this is the first event within the format of cooperation.

Zelenska stressed that the main purpose of the meeting was to share how countries live and issues that concern people. She is convinced that such an exchange of experience and views provides a solid basis for building future cooperation.

"I sincerely believe that the power of the first ladies and gentlemen is capable of improving the world. It is capable, if not of finding a way out of crises, at least of facilitating and mitigating the processes that cause these crises. Or even more – preventing them. We can do this and are doing it through our social, educational, humanitarian and cultural projects. We are able to do this gently, and not by force of muscles," Zelenska wrote.
