Zaporizhstal reduces output by 44-46% in four months of 2022
KYIV. May 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Zaporizhstal in January-April 2022 reduced the output of rolled products by 44.1% compared to the same period last year – to 630,100 tonnes.
According to the information of the enterprise, steel production for the four months of 2022 decreased by 45.8% – to 721,000 tonnes, pig iron – by 45.1%, to 830,200 tonnes.
In April of this year, the steel plant produced 68,900 tonnes of pig iron (19% compared to April 2021), 73,600 tonnes of steel (22%), 65,700 tonnes of rolled products (23.3%).
"The decline in production compared to the same period last year is associated with a shortage of raw materials and logistical problems caused by hostilities," the press release explains.
It is recalled that in connection with the aggravation of hostilities in the region since the beginning of March, Metinvest Group transferred part of the Zaporizhstal equipment to the hot conservation mode. At the end of March, the plant partially resumed the work of the cold rolling shop for the production and shipment of cold rolled coils to the European consumer. A month after the forced shutdown, the plant launched equipment and partially resumed production. In April 2022, the plant operated at an average of 50% of its capacity.
