Zaporizhstal increases production of rolled products by 4% in Jan-Sept

KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In January-September of this year, Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant increased output of rolled products by 4% compared to the same period last year, to 2.459 million tonnes.

According to the published performance indicators, steel production during this period increased by 5.6%, to 2.937 million tonnes, but cast iron production decreased by 0.6%, to 3.267 million tonnes.

In September 2021, the plant produced 332,900 tonnes of cast iron (in September 2020 – 386,800 tonnes), 284,500 tonnes of steel (326,500 tonnes), and 213,700 tonnes of rolled products (276,400 tonnes).

"The decline in production indicators in September 2021 compared to the same period last year is due to overhaul of blast furnace No. 3, as well as overhaul of rolling mills in a blooming and hot rolling shop," the press release says.

Zaporizhstal is one of the largest industrial enterprises in Ukraine, the products of which are in a great demand among consumers in the internal market and in many countries of the world. The plant specializes in high quality hot-rolled steel, hot-rolled sheet, cold-rolled sheet, cold-rolled coil of carbon and low-alloy steels, as well as steel tape, black sheet, and a bent profile.
