KYIV. Aug 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny had a telephone conversation with Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, during which the operational situation at the frontline was discussed.

"During today’s phone conversation, we once again verified the estimates of the losses of the Russians in this war. We note that the enemy is suffering significant losses, primarily in manpower – a fifth of the units of the Russian Armed Forces involved in hostilities in Ukraine have been defeated," Zaluzhny said on the Telegram channel on Saturday evening, August 13.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine briefed his American colleague about the operational situation and said that active hostilities continue on the 1,300 kilometers of the frontline.

"We really need to increase artillery fire – I again turned to our partners with this. I am sincerely grateful to General Milley and the entire American nation for their effective support in protecting our heroic people and common values – freedom and democracy," Zaluzny said.
