Yermak says some regional leaders acting contrary to signed memo on non-increase in tariffs
KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak says that some leaders in the regions "at their own discretion" interpret the Memorandum on the settlement of problematic issues in heat supply, which to a small extent provokes an increase in tariffs.
"At the last meeting, a very important event took place, namely, a memorandum was signed that determined the mechanisms and algorithm for the preparation and passage of the current heating season, and I would like to stress once again […] there is enough gas in Ukraine to pass this heating season," Yermak said at a meeting of the Congress local and regional authorities in Odesa on Friday.
He also said that today, to some extent, provoking an increase in tariffs is the fact that in the regions some leaders act contrary to the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier to resolve problematic issues in supply of heat energy and hot water in the 2021 and 2022 heating period.
"I would like to say that, unfortunately, some leaders, at their discretion, continue to explain the decision of the Congress and act contrary to the signed memorandum […]. We believe that this is an action directed against the Ukrainian people," the head of the President’s Office said.
According to him, the government has done and is doing everything so that tariffs do not increase, so there should be no speculations on this subject.
"If you sometimes come across manifestations of non-fulfillment of agreements that we have all agreed upon, please inform us, the Congress, and we will very promptly intervene in the situation and resolve them," Yermak said.
