Yermak, Political Director of UK's Foreign Office, Vice President of US Institute for Peace discuss situation in Ukraine, challenges caused by Nord Stream 2 project – President's Office

KYIV. Nov 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has discussed with British Political Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Sir Timothy Barrow and Vice President of the U.S. Institute for Peace, former United States Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, the situation in Donbas and in the Black and Azov Seas, the challenges associated with the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project, as well as further political contacts, the President’s Office of Ukraine has reported.

Yermak and Barrow discussed the schedule of further political contacts and preparations for the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue.

The head of the President’s Office and the political director of the British Foreign Office exchanged views on the security situation in the east and around Ukraine, further interaction in the development of the defense capabilities of our state and in the energy sector. The President’s Office clarified that it was about challenges for the European region in connection with the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project.

It is noted that during the meeting between Yermak and Taylor, the interlocutors exchanged views on the security situation around Ukraine, discussed possible steps to restore freedom of navigation in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as energy security issues in Europe, in particular, in the context of the Nord Stream 2 project.

The head of the President’s Office informed Taylor about Ukraine’s preparations for the Summit of Leaders for Democracy, in which the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will take part.

The President’s Office recalled that a Ukrainian delegation is paying a visit to the United States to participate in the meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission, which is to be held on November 10. The delegation includes First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Valeria Kolomiyets, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoliy Petrenko, Deputy Minister of Culture Taras Shevchenko and Deputy Minister of Health Oleksiy Yaremenko.
