Yermak on gas price cap approval by EU: There should be embargo if we really stand for justice
KYIV. Dec 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has criticized today’s approval of a EUR 180 per MWh price cap on Russian gas by the European Union, saying that an embargo should have been imposed on Russian gas.
"Gas price cap… There should be an embargo if we really stand for justice," he said on the Telegram channel on Monday, December 19.
As reported, the EU countries reached an agreement to impose a gas price cap of EUR 180 per MWh on Monday.
The cap is expected to work as part of the European gas market adjustment mechanism. The cap refers to the price at which the correction mechanism is engaged. The ministers were to set this maximum price.
