World Bank makes work with hydrogen condition for providing support for GTSOU modernization

KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The gas transmission system operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) is analyzing the feasibility of the terms of financing the company’s modernization proposed by the World Bank, including the possibility of working with hydrogen, GTSOU Director for Relations with Government Agencies and International Organizations Olha Belkova has said.

"We are interested in how this will affect the price (of modernization)," she said at the 7th Conductors of Changes Forum held in Kyiv organized by Deloitte in Ukraine, pointing out that so far the matter concerns several compressor stations.

Belkova told Interfax-Ukraine that it is about how much more expensive equipment and modernization in general will be, provided that it works with hydrogen, and how much these investments can pay off, given that in the coming years natural gas will still remain a key product for GTSOU. According to her, if, conditionally, we are talking about a 5-10% rise in price, then this may be acceptable taking into account the prospects, and if it is 50%, then this requires a more detailed analysis.
