Without Ukraine, NATO is weaker – Zelensky
KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Ukraine is one of the highest priority countries for joining NATO, then the choice is for NATO.
"I believe that we are one of the highest priority countries in this direction [joining NATO] and further the choice is for NATO," Zelensky told reporters in New York.
According to the head of state, Ukraine is not in a "dead end" regarding potential membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
"I believe that Ukraine can finally say with certainty that without a state like Ukraine, the Alliance will be weaker. And it will be up to the Alliance itself to decide whether they want a strong Alliance, a powerful NATO and to defend themselves, especially small countries which, joining the Alliance, strongly believed in such protection," Zelensky said.
He also said that Ukraine, on its part, has done everything to join NATO.
