West can use Nord Stream 2 as leverage to put pressure on Russia over Ukraine – White House
WASHINGTON. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the moment, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline can be used to put pressure on Russia over the topic of Ukraine, U.S. National Security Adviser to President Joe Biden Jake Sullivan has said.
"Gas is not currently flowing through the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which means that it’s not operating, which means that it’s not leverage for Putin. Indeed, it is leverage for the West, because if Vladimir Putin wants to see gas flow through that pipeline, he may not want to take the risk of invading Ukraine," he said at a White House briefing on Tuesday.
