We are moving forward in issue of creating safety zone around Zaporizhia NPP – Grossi
KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has said that there is progress in the issue of creating a safety zone around Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
"We are working on the issue of creating a safety zone around Zaporizhia NPP, moving forward in this direction," he said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The issue includes both military and safety components, and therefore its discussion requires some time, Grossi said.
"We have taken a few steps towards good news and conclusions," he said.
Grossi stressed that Zaporizhia NPP must remain in working condition at the end of the war and after it so that it is possible to launch its operation.
