War will not erase centuries of Ukrainian nationhood, 31 years of independence – Blinken
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed support of the United States to Ukraine on its Independence Day.
"Six months of war cannot and will not erase centuries of Ukrainian nationhood and 31 years of independence. Today we celebrate National Day with all Ukrainians. Today, and always, we stand united with Ukraine," he said on Twitter on Wednesday.
Blinken also said that in the face of six months of brutal violence and destruction in Ukraine by the Russian government, Ukrainians are fighting with courage and conviction.
"They are defending their unique heritage and upholding their democratic government against tyranny," he said.
