KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The vote of deputies for the election of a new chairman of the Verkhovna Rada may take place on Friday, October 8, head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia has said.

"On Friday, probably [there will be a vote for the election of the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada]. I think we need to hold a faction and determine both candidates [for the posts of the chairman of the Verkhovha Rada and first deputy speaker], and then we will vote," Arakhamia told reporters on the sidelines of parliament on Wednesday.

To the clarifying question whether these candidates are incumbent First Deputy Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and First Deputy Head of the Servant of the People faction Oleksandr Korniyenko, he replied: "No … They are on the short list, but there are still candidates who want to be considered."

At the same time, Arakhamia did not name the names of these deputies, but confirmed that they are members of the Servant of the People faction.

In addition, he clarified that on Thursday evening the faction will gather for a meeting, where it will discuss this personnel issue.
