Volume of new housing construction expands by 15.4% in H1 2021 – statistics
KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The total area of residential buildings for which construction permits (new construction) have been issued in January-June 2021 increased by 15.4% compared to the same period in 2020, to 4.45 million square meters, the State Statistics Service reported.
According to the statistics authority, in the first half of the year, the total area of new construction of apartment buildings amounted to 4.029 million square meters (96.4% of the total).
The total area of new housing construction in Kyiv city grew 2.1 times by January-June 2020, to 784,200 square meters, while in Kyiv region it decreased three times, to 447,700 square meters.
Significant volumes of new housing construction were also recorded in Kharkiv (550,200 square meters), Lviv (501,800 square meters), Odesa (500,000 square meters), Dnipropetrovsk (276,700 square meters) and Khmelnytsky (268,100 square meters) regions.
The State Statistics Service reminded that the figures are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
