Volume of loans under portfolio govt guarantees program grows by 8% in Aug compared to July

KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Banks issued 407 loans under the program of government portfolio guarantees for UAH 1.397 billion in August, which is 50 loans, or UAH 103 million more than in July this year, the Finance Ministry has said.

The ministry said that the share of obligations on the principal debt guaranteed by the state is UAH 651 million, which is even less than in July, when it amounted to UAH 669 million.

The state-owned PrivatBank remains the leader in issuing loans, which in August signed 231 contracts for UAH 682 million, while in August it issued 239 loans for UAH 428 million under this program.

The state-owned Oschadbank, which in August provided 50 loans under the program of portfolio state guarantees for UAH 1.113 billion, comes next, while in July the bank issued only 23 loans for UAH 37 million.

In total, as of September 1, 2022, 26 creditor banks service 14,660 loans in the amount of UAH 45.66 billion under the specified program. Principal obligations partially secured by government portfolio guarantees amounted to UAH 28.43 billion, which is about 81% of the total allocated limit of government guarantees (UAH 35.014 billion).

The Ministry of Finance said that the largest volume of loans was issued in Odesa region – 1,082 in the amount of UAH 3.541 billion. In Kirovohrad region, 759 such loans were issued for UAH 3.217 billion, 1,312 loans for UAH 2.979 billion were issued in Dnipropetrovsk region, and 718 loans for UAH 2.898 billion in Kyiv region.

According to the report, by type of economic activity, most loans, partially secured by government portfolio guarantees, were issued in agriculture – 7,265 for UAH 32.327 billion. It is followed by wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles – 4,447 loans for a total of UAH 6.9 billion and processing industry – 1,122 loans for UAH 3.847 billion.
