Vodafone Ukraine sees income fall by 1%, posts UAH 620 mln loss for nine months

KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine received UAH 14.72 billion in revenue in January-September 2022, which is 1% less than the results of the same period last year.

According to the operator’s financial report, the company’s net loss for the nine months of 2022 amounted to UAH 620 million against a net profit of UAH 3.21 billion for the same period last year.

OIBDA increased by 2%, to UAH 8.372 billion, OIBDA margin increased by 1.4 percentage points.

"The growth in revenue from fixed-line business, roaming and mobile network integration services for business customers partially offset the lost revenue from mobile services and sales in own outlets," the operator emphasizes.

The company estimates the costs associated with the war in February-September 2022 at UAH 810 million.

Also, one of the main factors for the decrease in profitability, according to the company, was exchange rate fluctuations.

The migration processes caused by the hostilities affected the size of the subscriber base: as of the end of September, the operator’s subscriber base amounted to 15.8 million customers (19 million customers as of the end of the third quarter of 2021).

The total volume of free services provided by the operator in February-September amounted to UAH 1.15 billion. The total volume of humanitarian and direct financial assistance of the company to the country as of the end of September is estimated at UAH 275 million.

Capital investments of Vodafone Ukraine in the nine months of 2022 amounted to UAH 2.03 billion (a decrease of 2% compared to the same period last year).

"The main directions (of capital investments) are to increase the reliability and performance of the network in extreme conditions, the restoration of damaged and destroyed communications facilities, the restoration of the network in the liberated territories, the expansion of capacity in the regions that have received more new subscribers," the operator says.
