Vitrenko: Published report on confiscation of Russian assets for destruction in Ukraine to be considered at G7 soon

KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The international working group on Russian sanctions has published a report on the confiscation of assets of the Russian Federation for the destruction caused by it due to military aggression in Ukraine, which will be considered at a meeting of the G7 countries in the near future, Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Yuriy Vitrenko has said.

"The international working group on Russian sanctions, which I am a member of, just published a report entitled "Why and How to Confiscate Russia’s Sovereign Assets to Help Rebuild Ukraine," Vitrenko wrote on Facebook late Tuesday.

According to him, the report "argued in sufficient detail the position of the expert group on this issue." "First of all, regarding the hundreds of billions of dollars of state assets of the Russian Federation, which were frozen in the G7 countries," he said.

He said that in the near future this issue (confiscation of Russian assets) will be the subject of consideration at a G7 meeting.

"We will also pay attention to the reasoning of the expert group regarding the role of Ukraine’s international partners in the work of the relevant fund for the restoration of Ukraine and the relationship with joining the EU," Vitrenko added.
