Verkhovna Rada supports volunteer activities

KYIV. Aug 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada has supported volunteer activities.

Some 276 MPs voted in favor of respective bill No. 7363 amending the law on volunteer activities at a plenary session on Monday, MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (the Holos faction) has said on the Telegram channel.

The bill provides for additional areas of volunteer activity, in particular, to provide volunteer assistance to overcome the consequences of the military aggression of Russia against Ukraine.

The document takes into account the conditions of martial law and extends the norm of Article 6 of the law on volunteer activities for volunteers who help counter the armed aggression of Russia in the territory of Ukraine. This article determines the amount and procedure for the payment of one-time monetary assistance in the event of killing (death) or disability of a volunteer as a result of injury (concussion, traumas or injuries).

The bill also defines state support for volunteering through the development and implementation of nationwide targeted programs to support the development of volunteering and professional development of volunteers.
