Venediktova: Ukraine hands over Lamborghini, Rolls Royce as proof to foreign colleagues for first time
KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) of Ukraine has handed over to the German competent authority Lamborghini and Rolls Royce vehicles upon a request for legal assistance in the case of a major international fraudulent scheme, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova has said.
"Over the weekend, an airplane with elite cars worth over EUR 1 million took off from the Boryspil international airport checkpoint. The vehicles were handed over by the PGO to the competent authority of the Federal Republic of Germany upon a request for legal assistance in the case of a major international fraudulent scheme associated with investing in non-existent financial products," Venediktova said on her Facebook page.
According to her, the investigation found that the crime was organized by the citizens of Ukraine, and committed in Germany, Bulgaria, Serbia and other European countries.
Thus, most of the members of the criminal organization were exposed and detained in the territories of foreign states and in Ukraine.
"The competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany have established that the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ worth EUR 621,000 and the Rolls Royce Phantom worth EUR 451,000 are evidence that they were acquired using funds obtained as a result of fraudulent activities. At the request of our German colleagues, our law enforcement officers found the cars and ensured the imposition of arrests on them in the framework of international cooperation. The most difficult stage is their transportation to Germany," the prosecutor general said.
Venediktova said that previously only items, cultural values and other evidence withdrawn from circulation were transferred to foreign countries.
