USAID to provide Ukrainian farmers with 6,000 tonnes of mineral fertilizers per 28,000 ha – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. March 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The USAID Agrarian and Rural Development Program, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, launched a project to support Ukrainian micro, small and medium-sized agribusinesses (MSMEs) in Ukraine, processing from 5 to 500 hectares and growing grains and oilseeds.

As reported on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy on Wednesday, at least 6,800 MSMEs will be able to participate in the project, among which 6,000 tonnes of mineral fertilizers will be distributed, and a certain amount of sunflower seeds sufficient to grow sunflower on a total area of 28,000 hectares.

It is clarified that the acceptance of applications for participation in the program is accepted through the State Agrarian Register (SAR) from March 1 to March 14, 2023. The project is being implemented by USAID as part of the Agriculture Resilience Initiative – AGRI-Ukraine.

Legal entities registered in the SAR, private entrepreneurs or family farms with 5-500 hectares in cultivation, which are located in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions can take part in the project.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy noted that applicants would be able to choose one of three types of assistance: sunflower seeds, mineral fertilizers for feeding winter crops or mineral fertilizers for the main and pre-sowing application for spring crops. At the same time, program participants should not conduct economic activities in the occupied territories, in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and should not be subject to Ukrainian sanctions.

In addition, participants must independently ensure the delivery of fertilizers or seeds from regional distribution points to their land plots.
