USA trains Ukrainian forces who sank Russian warship Vasily Bekh – media

KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian forces that sank the Russian warship Vasily Bekh with Harpoon missiles in June received training in the United States, Defense One said, citing U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Support William LaPlante.

"Ukrainians were trained on the use of the weapons" in our country over Memorial Day weekend," LaPlante said.

At the same time, the publication said the Boeing-made Harpoon anti-ship missiles used during the strike were transferred to the Ukrainians by a U.S. ally, which LaPlante did not disclose.

It is specified that the missiles transferred to Ukraine were removed from an ally ship and then installed on the back of a truck with an onboard platform. The second flatbed truck served as the "power source".

"There is incredible innovations going on right now and we just don’t talk about it enough," the U.S. Department of Defense spokesman said.
