USA plans to allocate $300 mln from defense budget to aid Ukraine – media
WASHINGTON. Dec 8 (Interfax) – The draft U.S. defense budget for fiscal 2022, actively discussed in recent days in Congress, provides for the allocation of $300 million to support Ukraine, Western media reported on Tuesday.
This amount, in particular, is supposed to be spent on supporting the Ukrainian armed forces. In addition, it is proposed to allocate $150 million for the initiative to ensure the security of the Baltic region.
The total amount of the defense budget is expected to be $770 billion.
The U.S. Senate continues to actively discuss the project. Republican senators are unhappy that a number of their proposed amendments are not being voted on. Without the support of at least part of the Republicans, Democrats, who have a majority in the Senate, they cannot complete the procedure for approving the defense budget.
