USA doesn’t intend to recognize pseudo-referendums in occupied Ukraine – Presidential Adviser
KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Holding referendums in the so-called "DPR", "LPR", and the occupied parts of Zaporizhia and Kherson regions is a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday.
These referendums are encroachments on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, which form the basis of the international system and underlie the UN Charter, Sullivan said at a briefing at the White House.
He noted that the United States will never recognize any claims of Russia to any allegedly annexed territories.
Sullivan said the planned referendums are a direct violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty.
