US, Ukrainian Defense Ministers discuss issues of further military aid to Kyiv – Pentagon
KYIV. Aug 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed by phone with Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov the prospective provision of U.S. military assistance to Kyiv, the Pentagon press service said on Wednesday.
"Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov to discuss Ukraine’s immediate and long-term security assistance needs," according to the statement.
It notes that Reznikov briefed Austin on the dynamics on the battlefield in Ukraine.
During the conversation, the leaders also discussed planning for the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, the press service of the U.S. Department said.
