US insists that Russia be clear about troop movements near Ukraine – Pentagon
WASHINGTON. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States is concerned about the movement of Russian troops in the border area with Ukraine and urges Moscow to clarify its intentions, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby has said.
"We continue to see concerning movements by the Russian military around in their western areas and around Ukraine. We continue to call on them to be clear about what their intentions are," Kirby said at a briefing in response to a question about whether The Pentagon informed Kyiv that 90,000 Russian troops are at the border with Ukraine.
However, the press secretary said: "I am not going to be able to qualify the assessment. I am just not going to speak to intelligence assessments here from the podium."
He traditionally called on Russia to abide by the Minsk Agreements and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
