Up to 180 people die of COVID-19 in Ukraine since beginning of year – Kuzin
KYIV. Jan 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Around 180 people died of the COVID-19 coronavirus disease in Ukraine since the beginning of 2023, Chief Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin, who is also the Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine, has said.
"We observe approximately the same average figures weekly: the mortality rate is 40 to 70 cases per week, hospitalization is up to 3,000 cases. Thus, 12,000-15,000 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and around 140-180 people died [of the disease] since the beginning of the year," he told a press briefing on Friday.
According to Kuzin, the number of COVID-19 cases is gradually growing due to "seasonal reasons."
"The increase in the incidence rate will be observed almost until the middle or even until the end of February, we should record the first signs of a fall starting from May," he said.
Kuzin also noted that the number of COVID-19 cases among children is growing.
