Until end of heating season, tariffs for transport in Kyiv to be unchanged – Klitschko

KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said the fare in the city public transport in the Ukrainian capital will not rise to the end of the heating season in 2022.

"As a mayor of Kyiv, I have a position next and clear: the issue of the revision of target tariffs in public transport will not be considered before the end of the heating season," Klitschko said in the Telegram channel on Wednesday evening.

He also said that he understood how sensitive the issue of travel costs for Kyiv, and noted that this initiative was made only for discussion. "This is a draft decision, but not approved one," Klitschko said.

The mayor said that Kyiv was in a difficult economic situation "due to the energy crisis and permanent debts of the central government in front of the city."

"Thus, we have to decide, whether increase the numbers in the payments for a communal service, or raise the passage of the passage. For the entire budget of the capital we cannot let only at subsidies. For what funds then implement projects, repair roads, bridges, construct kindergartens and schools? Should we update the public transport," Klitschko said.
