United States to demand from Germany to stop Nord Stream 2 in case of conflict between Russia and Ukraine – media

WASHINGTON. Dec 7 (Interfax) – The U.S. Administration will push Germany to agree to stop the contested Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline if Russian President Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine, according to documents seen by Bloomberg and people familiar with the plans.

The report notes that Washington will seek promises from the new German authorities that they will stop the gas pipeline in the event of such a development of events.

Earlier it was reported that the United States was preparing a series of measures in case of Russian military aggression against Ukraine. The White House said that this is about a series of steps that will hit the Russian economy.

New German chancellor Olaf Scholz is expected to start work on Wednesday.
