UN continuing contacts on grain deal, focused on its extension
NEW YORK, UN. March 14 (Interfax) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is continuing contacts on the grain deal, and the UN is focused on its extension, Stephane Dujarric, a spokesperson for Guterres, said on Tuesday.
“We are remaining in constant contacts, the secretary general is being in touch with officials from Turkey, from Ukraine, so as Rebeca Grynspan and Martin Griffiths. Contacts are continuing,” Dujarric said during a briefing.
The grain deal remains in force for now, and the UN is focused on making all possible effort to continue the initiative, he said. Dujarric refrained from answering journalists’ question about the UN’s attitude towards Russia’s stance on extending the deal for 60 days.
