Ukrzaliznytsia's plan for agricultural goods transportation 24% fulfilled due to reorientation of cargo to ports – company repr
KYIV. Oct 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia as of October 20, 2022 loaded only 24.1% of wagons with agricultural products for export to the EU through land border crossings, this is due to the reorientation of cargo towards Ukrainian seaports, unblocked under the Istanbul grain agreements.
The relevant data and an appeal to shippers to cancel the agreed plans for loading wagons in the event of a change in plans for their export were published by Valeriy Tkachev, the deputy director of the department of commercial work of Ukrzaliznytsia.
"The percentage of implementation of the agreed plans as of October 20, 2022 is only 24.1%, out of the planned 15,180 wagons with grain, only 3,660 wagons are loaded. The reason is the reorientation of grain cargoes to the seaports of Ukraine due to the functioning of the grain corridor," he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
Tkachev urged shippers who decided not to ship grain for export in the direction of ground railway crossings at the border with the EU, to provide such an opportunity to other shippers, notifying Ukrzaliznytsia of the cancellation of the previously agreed plans.
"Consignors who are not going to ship grain in the direction of the western crossings need to cancel the agreed plans in order to provide other shippers with the shipment of grain! Shippers, be responsible when planning the transportation of grain, because we face an extremely difficult task to ensure the full export of agricultural products," stressed the representative of Ukrzaliznytsia.
