Ukrzaliznytsia to receive $25 mln in grant funding from World Bank for purchase, construction of fitting platforms
KYIV. Feb 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia will receive half of the $50 million grant funding announced by the World Bank, and will use these funds to purchase and build fitting (container) platforms, Ukrzaliznytsia board chairman Oleksandr Kamyshin told Interfax-Ukraine.
“The World Bank allocates $50 million, $25 million will go to Ukrzaliznytsia. These are two projects for container transportation: purchase and construction,” Kamyshin said, adding that Ukrzaliznytsia has not yet received funds, but is in the process.
The World Bank announced additional $50 million in grant funding to repair and rehabilitate Ukraine’s transport network, increase the capacity of export-import corridors, and humanitarian aid, half of which will go to the newly established State Reconstruction Agency to restore bridges.
The World Bank’s grant financing will be provided in addition to the $535 million loan funds that were previously approved.
