Ukrzaliznytsia introduces ban on loading feed grain in direction of Izov-Hrubieszow at request of Polish carrier

KYIV. March 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrzaliznytsia has introduced a ban on the loading of feed grain in the direction of the border crossing Izov-Hrubieszow (Poland) in connection with the tightening of control by the Polish veterinary authorities and the increase in the accumulation of wagons, food grain is shipped without restrictions, said the deputy director of the commercial work department at Ukrzaliznytsia, Valeriy Tkachev, at a meeting with market participants.

“After receiving a relevant request from the Polish carrier, Ukrzaliznytsia established a ban on loading grain for fodder purposes in the direction of the Izov-Hrubieszow (Poland) border crossing, since there is a significant accumulation of wagons due to delays in the veterinary inspection,” Tkachev said.

According to him, on February 28, Ukrzaliznytsia sent a telegram informing market participants that grain cargoes passing through Izov-Hrubieszow would be conditionally divided into three categories according to the purpose of use: “grain for feed purposes,” “food purposes” and “technical purposes.” This will be noted in shipping documents with special stamps.

“We will inform our Polish colleagues that grain for fodder purposes will not be temporarily loaded for shipment to the Izov-Hrubieszow crossing. But other grain cargoes for food or technical purposes that do not require veterinary control, please accept as usual,” Tkachev said, noting that such measures were taken in order to avoid a complete conventional ban on agricultural products in the direction of the Izov-Hrubieszow crossing.

At the moment, 767 wagons with grain, 213 with vegetable oil, 516 with cake, 857 with meal are moving along the railway network in the direction of Izov.

“The queue is gradually growing,” Tkachev stated.

Last week it was reported that in the direction of the Izov-Hrubieszow crossing, the largest accumulation of wagons of all Polish border crossings was recorded – 3,716.
