Ukrzaliznytsia expands grain carrier rolling stock by 8.5%, to 6,400 cars, raises number of cars at online auctions
KYIV. Aug 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The working fleet of grain carriers of the Center of Transport Logistics branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia increased to 6,400 from 5,900 units.
Valeriy Tkachev, the deputy director of the commercial work department of Ukrzaliznytsia, said on his Facebook page that the company is also increasing the number of grain carriages offered at auctions through the ProZorro.Sale electronic trading system.
"The total number of grain carriers increases to 500 from 400 units due to the expansion of the working fleet of the branch from 5,900 to 6,400 units. Bidding will be held in the English auction mode (to increase the price). The winner will be the company that proposes the highest price," he wrote.
Tkachev also noted the main advantage of participation in the auction for business: the winners of the auction are guaranteed to receive the cars on time, otherwise Ukrzaliznytsia will pay a fine.
It is planned that from August 30, auctions will be held daily on weekdays.
At the same time, Tkachev wrote earlier that the loading of wagons through the Ukrzaliznytsia network exceeds unloading – that is, there is an accumulation of loaded wagons on the network. This stimulates an increase in the demand for a wagon fleet and locomotive support, as well as a decrease in the overall speed of delivery of goods, and a decrease in the section speed of trains.
According to him, 171 trains or 6,344 wagons were in the state of "temporarily abandoned trains" during the operational day on August 27-28. Train delays were 12-72 hours.
