Ukrzaliznytsia cancels number of restrictions on transportation of goods towards western border crossings
KYIV. Feb 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has canceled a number of conventional bans that have been in force since the middle of last year for the transportation of goods in the direction of western border crossings and related to technological restrictions, the deputy director of the commercial work department of Ukrzaliznytsia, Valeriy Tkachev, said at a meeting with market participants in Thursday.
“Ukrzaliznytsia contributes to transportation as much as possible, so we remove restrictions as much as possible,” Tkachev said.
In particular, the convention bans on all transportation of goods in private wagons with the rearrangement of bogies of the European standard 1,435 mm on the way through the border stations of Dyakovo (border with Romania), through the stations of Mohyliv-Podilsky and Sokyriany (border with Moldova), as well as during transportation in the direction of Reni and Reni-port, introduced on June 29, 2022.
In addition, restrictions on the carriage of goods in private wagons with the rearrangement of European standard bogies 1,435 mm through the border stations Yahodyn, Mostyska II (in the direction of Poland), introduced on June 27, 2022, have been lifted.
“The ban on interchange traffic along Mostyska and Yahodyn has been lifted – now not only the Ukrzaliznytsia fleet, but also private carriers can rearrange carts. I hope this will stimulate transportation in Ukrainian wagons across the EU,” Tkachev specified.
According to him, over the 15 days of February, the total queue in the direction of the western border crossings decreased by 10% – to 14,944 wagons, and wagons with grain – by 17%, to 3,851. The average waiting time in the queue is 7-8 days, for grain cargo – 6 days.
