Ukrtransgaz plans to overhaul 10 wells at one of Western Ukrainian UGS facilities in 2023

KYIV. Jan 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian gas storage operator, JSC Ukrtransgaz, has planned to overhaul ten wells, as well as intensify another 20 wells at one of the Western Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) in 2023.

"These days, repairs are underway at the wells of one of the Western Ukrainian UGS facilities. The overhaul team has completed work on the facilities being renovated since 2022 and has started new work," the company said on Telegram on Wednesday.

Ukrtransgaz, in particular, has begun a thorough revision of the systems at two gas storage wells and, if necessary, will replace its individual elements. The purpose of the work is to restore the productivity of these wells to design indicators and improve the safety of their further operation.

"We would like to note that in 2022, the repair managed to cover about 20% of the well stock of this facility," the company informed.

At the same time, specialists from the UGSF overhaul team last year replaced the system components in the form of shut-off and Christmas tree fittings, column heads, etc., checked the tightness of the connections, and also carried out a set of geophysical surveys to make sure that the wells were in good condition.

"The conducted repairs made it possible to increase the estimated productivity of wells by 11%, increased the safety and reliability of gas storage in UGS facilities, the stability of its withdrawal and injection in the future," Ukrtransgaz summed up.
