Ukrenergo warns of aggravated situation in energy sector due to sharp cold snap, increased restrictions
KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NPC Ukrenergo announced emergency power outages throughout Ukraine, including due to increased consumption because of a cold snap.
"Today, November 17, hourly power outage schedules are applied throughout Ukraine all day, as well as emergency ones," the company said on the Telegram channel on Thursday morning.
As the company said, due to a sharp cold snap, electricity consumption increased in those regions of Ukraine where electricity supply has already been resumed after massive missile strikes on November 15. In turn, this further complicated the already difficult situation in the power system.
Thus, energy companies are forced to apply more restrictions.
"This is a necessary measure to maintain the stability of the power system after the sixth targeted missile attack by the Russians on energy facilities. Repair teams are working around the clock to restore the damaged infrastructure in order to return light to Ukrainians," Ukrenergo stressed.
